Description

On Petrocedeno field has been developed a Polymer Flood Pilot with the purpose of evaluating the applicability of this technology in extra-heavy oil reservoirs and considering its uses on the rest of the field. For the integrity of this project it is important to make a monitoring program with the object of evaluating parameters and making its changes
among the proposed activities there are the fall off tests, which studies the area near the injection wells and with downhole sensors pressure, it is possible to make a dynamic behavior study during the polymer flooding. The pressure measurements were used to interpret the fall off test by non-conventional methods for non-Newtonian fluids with the object of estimating the polymers properties on the reservoir and evaluating its degradation. The pressure data is processed to eliminate inconsistencies such as outliers and noise using MS Excel and a well-test program. The flow behavior index and polymer mobility, both, were estimated through the Bourdet's graph and the analytic solutions for non-Newtonian fluids. These parameters were used to define the polymer degradation. Additional to this, the skin factor and the investigation radius were calculated by the Vongvuthipornchai and Ikoku solutions, respectively. The proposed methodology contributed to the study of the polymer flow in the reservoir and its effect over the pressure response that is useful when simulations work do not reflect accurately the results obtained on the field.
