Description

This paper describes about an efficient control strategy applied to DC Microgrid based on various surveys conducted for this study. This DC microgrid is integrated with renewable energy sources. For any Microgrid structure, an efficient control strategy is required. An effective control strategy comprises various key elements like, intermittent nature of renewable energy systems (RES), load variation, power electronics interface and so on. In this context, control mechanism has an important role to improve system stability performance, resilience and reliability. Controllers may use either islanded or in non-islanded mode irrespective of any type of microgrid (AC/DC). The detailed survey analysis in this paper has described various control mechanisms (i.e. basic control to multilevel control) applied for DC microgrid, its working and importance with pros and cons. Due to the global energy crisis and the increasingly atmospheric pollution, distributed generations (DGs) integration with RES is becoming a potential trend in new market scenario.
