[20]3 New Routes to Low Olefins
Title
[20]3 New Routes to Low Olefins
Description
Future trends in olefin production are characterized by: o Technical improvements of conventional pyrolysis processes, o An increased use of heavy crude oil fractions and, o Efforts to develop new technologies for processing methanol, synthesis gas and methane into olefins. which could enlarge the possibility for making low olefins in the near future. The paper will give typical results, an estimation and a technical and economic outlook of two new processes The report deals with:Pyrolysis of virgin heavy crude oil fraction in the presence of an heterogeneous catalysis (TCSC-process-Producing of olefins by the coupled methanol/hydrocarbon cracking (CMHC-Process) on zeolite catalysts. The development and the application of a modified calcium-aluminate-catalyst has opened an interesting new way for producing low olefins directly from Virgin Heavy Hydrocarbon fraction (AGO, VGO) without the well known and expensive hydrocatalytical pretreatment. The long time stable catalyst allows the production of a high yield of olefins. Typical results and process conditions will be discussed.Furthermore will be described results and pecularities of an unconventional way to olefins by combining the exothermic methanol transformation with the endothermic hydrocarbon cracking. A high space time yield of low olefins (up to 1000 g/kg/h) by using straight run naphtha as a hydrocarbon feed will be obtained.
