Description

Petroleum pipelines are best mode of transportation of crude oil, refined oil and by products of petroleum not only within the country but outside as well. Within the refinery these pipelines are in form of heater tubes and pipes linked/ connected to overhead of columns. One of the major causes of petroleum pipeline accident is due to Corrosion both inside and outside of the pipeline. Replacing these pipelines is a very expensive and troublesome for production. Therefore, automated detection of corrosion through wall thickness measurement of piping assumes a great importance. Use of robots or multiple coordinated robots i.e. an automated device, in conducting such inspection into areas which are inapproachable locations to humans can be easily accessed with the help of these devices, will definitely be useful to refiners into operations.
